JT's Santiago Canyon Cellars is a second generation, family owned boutique wine maker based in southern California. We produce hand-crafted, small lots of world-class award winning wines. Our wines are made from only "ultra-premium" wine grapes sourced from our vineyard blocks in Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Santa Rita Hills and Sierra Foothills in California and the Columbia River Gorge in Washington State. Our award winning approach to wine making is to carefully select and source ultra-premium fruit from the best, time-proven, award winning, sustainably farmed vineyards for each varietal we choose to make.
Our wines are a comprehensive exploration of the California, Oregon and Washington appellations. Drawing fruit from selected vineyards, the wines are a composite of vineyards stretching from the rolling hills of Paso Robles in the south to the Columbia River plateau in the north. Founder and winemaker, Jon Theurich - JT, is dedicated to producing wines that reflect the true essence and flavor of each terroir, sourcing vineyards that uniquely define the distinctive characteristics by each varietal. Vineyards are chosen for their proven quality from the appellations known to grow highest quality wine grapes for each varietal, using organic dry farming and sustainable vineyard agricultural practices.
By way of example, our Gold Medal award winning Syrah is crafted from grapes grown in the Alexander Valley AVA in Sonoma. Our award winning Chardonnay grapes come from the Carneros region of southern Sonoma, influenced by the persistent cooling breezes of the San Francisco bay. Our award winning Cabernet grapes are grown in the warmer climates of Napa Valley's world-renown Rutherford AVA. Our award winning Zinfandel grapes come from Arroyo Grande, and our award winning Pinot Noir hails from the famous Santa Rita Hills.
Because our approach is to source our grapes from award winning vineyards in the best AVA for each particular varietal, our wines are rich in the unique individual characteristics the varietal is known for, be it fruit, spice, earth or mineral aroma, flavor and structure. Santiago Canyon Cellars founder Jon Theurich, continually strives to craft perfectly balanced and elegantly refined wines using traditional time-honored winemaking methods developed in Europe and California.
